Students have the opportunity to apply for a micro loan to develop and apply a sustainable
initiative on UM-D's campus. These micro-loans are very small loans (Under $500) designed to spur entrepreneurship in a sustainable manner. How can you make a difference in your campus
environment?

What is sustainability? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sustainability
It covers a wide range of topics, but essentially, we honor the triple bottom line of sustainability: people, planet, and profit.

A talk on sustainable food presented by Professor Lordes Lore of Henry Ford Community College brought to you by the Environmental Interpretive Center and the Student Environmental Association.

This event may be considered for extra credit by your professor.

Synopsis:

Look at food from a viewpoint that you might not have considered before: Not in terms of calories or grams of carbs but how what we eat, not only affects our health in surprising ways, but the world as we now know it, and future generations. Did you know that our food choices unwittingly support certain food production practices and multibillion [yes, Billion] dollar corporations ?

The Environmental Crisis on Your Plate will provide an overview of how our food system contributes to global warming, discuss how this food system affects us personally, and what we can do to provoke change & improve it.
