New registrars to be interviewed

FYI I just found out via e-mail and thought you should know too.  I personally don't know a lot about this end of University Administration, but I can safely say that this is a good opportunity to express your desire for administrative/academic transparency and accessibility (you know, like how it's near impossible to find out what lab fees are used for what class, or to see an itemized credit by credit cost estimate by class).



I also found it interesting to read their resumes as the backgrounds and approaches to Registrarial (yes, I probably made that word up) activities.  For a personal observation and opinion, I found Ms. Reynolds' to be most action oriented and full of measurable achievements.

As Levar Burton (of Reading Rainbow and Star Trek fame) would say: "You don't have to take my word for it" read into them yourself!  Below is the e-mail passed on from the Student Activities Office:

As you may know, the University is in the final stages of interviewing for a new Registrar.  Below are the upcoming times the candidates will be available to meet with students.  Please try to attend, and encourage your members to attend as well.

The Registrar is responsible for all of the course registration, policies regarding registration and enrollment, and many other important duties related to students' academic and personal success.  Here is a link to the Office of Registration and Records, which the Registrar oversees:   http://www.umd.umich.edu/registration/

The Registrar is a member of the Enrollment Management and Student Life team and they report to Vice Chancellor Henderson.  The previous Registrar was Dr. Linda Brown, who retired in December.
